A VA IRRRL (Interest Rate Reduction Refinance Loan) is a streamlined refinance option for those with an existing VA loan. It allows eligible borrowers to reduce their interest rate or convert an adjustable-rate VA mortgage into a fixed-rate mortgage with minimal documentation and underwriting.
VA – Interest Rate Reduction Refinance Loan (IRRRL)
Benefits of a VA IRRRL include:
- No property appraisal may be required
- No new Certificate of Eligibility (COE) required
- Low funding fee of 0.5% (waived for eligible disabled veterans)
Important Note: A VA IRRRL can only be used to refinance an existing VA loan. It cannot be used to refinance a non-VA mortgage. The IRRRL reuses your original VA entitlement.
